IDW Announces Death of Optimus Prime

Big things are on the horizon for the Robots in Disguises. Today IDW announced that its 150th issue set in the Transformer Universe, set to be released in December, will be titled Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime. As the events of the Chaos story line draw to a close, there will be very little peace in Cybertron. As the dust settles the old warhorses must reflect on their position in a new and more peaceful world. Over the decades Optimus Prime has shown that he is a great leader on the battlefield, but can he be the leader of peace that Cybertron needs? Will he even survive?!? And as refugees from the civil war return home, will the embrace the Autobots as saviors or just power hungry combatants that helped destroy their home world?

Written by John Barber (Transformer: Dark of the Moon Foundation) and James Roberts ( Last Stand of the Wreckers) with art by Nick Roche ( Last Stand of the Wreckers), Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime is shaping up to be one of the biggest comics in Transformers history. It will also be paving the way for two new ongoing IDW Transformer titles, Robots in Disguise and More Than Meets the Eyes, which are set to launch early next year.
