HOLY CRAP!

Just a little update about a couple of things. I might as start off with the slightly crazy news. In case you missed the Facebook and twitter updates, I won a contest. And when I say “I won a contest,” I don’t mean I won a free DVD or something like that. I won a CONTEST. Today a package came via UPS. I wasn’t expecting anything, so I was caught off guard a little. I open it up and it’s just some paperwork. Paperwork for me to fill out to confirm I’M THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER OF THE XBOX MLS ALL-STAR SWEEPSTAKES!!!!11!!!1!eleven!!one!!!

This means that barring anything strange happening, in a couple of weeks I will be flown to Houston, Texas to see the best players in Major League Soccer play Manchester United. They will drive me to and from the airport, hotel and match, I will get to stay two nights in a hotel and to top it all off, I get $250 of folding money to spend on my trip. I’m not sure if it has sunk in yet, but I’m pretty excited. I get to take someone with me, but don’t start begging, I already decided to take my mom. She has been whining about wanting to go to this for months. If I didn’t take her, she would never forgive me. Also, she’s one of the few people I know that really like soccer. Oh yeah, and she lets me live in her basement while I pursue my writing. So, there’s that too…

Speaking of writing, I revised the hell out of “Respawn.” I trimmed a lot of fat off and added some more meat. Over the past few months I really feel like I have grown a lot as a writer. Monday I start working on another revision of “Far West.” It will be interesting to see how much red marker is on it when I’m done. Some of that story was written almost a year ago, so I can only imagine what I will think of it now. I also submitted a little flash fiction piece titled “Grinder.” The only problem with these new submissions is that it will likely be months before I hear back from them, but who knows what will happen. I will just keep working on other things in the meantime and try to write some more stuff to submit to a publisher that responds more quickly. Who knows, there might be a Carl-splosion all over the internet and I have like 5 things published all within a month of each other. One can only dream… one can only dream…

Say something... I dare you.
