So let it never be said that I am not capable of epic stupidity. This previous weekend was spent at the 7th annual Nelsonville Music Festival. It was a great time. I saw a ton of amazing musical act and met some really cool people. None of this is stupid, but what is about to follow is. I plan on writing a full article chronicling this triumph of the human spirit, but here’s the short version…
On Saturday morning I woke up at around 6am. I did some reading and ate some Poptarts. After a couple hours of this, I got a little bored, so I decided to check out the festival grounds and start working on some writing if the press tent wifi was up. Since it wasn’t, I let my little Chrome book on one of the tables and did a little more exploring. About 10am, I see that they are starting to put up the stage rigging for The Flaming Lips. They are known around the world for their crazy semi-DYI stage spectacles, so I decided to watch them put up the stage.
As I stood in front of the stage, I thought to myself “This would be a great place to watch the concert.” Then a second thought hit me, “Why don’t I just stand here all day?” What would follow is a crazy 13 hours of standing in the rain and great music. When I say I stood for 13 hours, I mean I stood. I only sat down once to eat around noon and the rest of the time was spent on my feet.
Anyways, I thought I would share that and this video.
Expect a full article of that experience soon. Also keep an eye on Guerrilla Geek in the next day or so for my Nelsonville Music Festival recap. Super excited.
